About Christy

Executive Summary

Christy Largent is the principal of C.C. Largent Associates, L.L.C. She has what you might call, a varied background. Her first career was 14 years in the High End Residential Design industry. She worked as an Interior Designer and Design Studio owner in Palm Desert, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, and Dallas, TX before returning to her hometown of Redding, CA in 2000.

Christy became a public speaker through a rather circuitous route. She graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia with a BS in Speech Communications and Political Science.

After college, she promptly fell into an entry-level job in the Interior Design industry in Palm Desert, California. After 4 years of working as an Assistant Designer and Source Librarian for Gay Young Designs, Christy opened her own Design Studio. She ran her business profitably for 4 years in Palm Desert, then moved the operation to Scottsdale, Arizona.

At this point, Christy deemed herself ready for a sabbatical, so she took on the challenge of creating the curriculum for and teaching American English and Culture to High School students in Debrecen, Hungary.

After completing her year abroad, Christy returned to Scottsdale, went to work for the oldest, most reputable Design firm in Arizona, EST, EST, and resumed her Design career.

Arousing your passion for learning.

After several years working in Arizona, Christy took advantage of a terrific opportunity with the renowned Dallas Design Firm, IBB Design and moved to Texas to continue her career.

It was during her time in Texas, that Christy decided to pursue her re-awakened passion for teaching. The first step she took was to become certified to teach “The Personality Styles” through CLASServices. She began teaching this material anywhere she could – for free – honing her craft, and developing her material. She took additional advanced level classes in interpersonal skills, and further matured her offerings.

A force for positive change in your life is born.

After several successful years in Dallas, serving her Interior Design clients full time, and teaching anywhere and everywhere part time, Christy decided to return to her hometown of Redding, California.

It was after about a year in Redding doing both, that Christy decided to make the switch to full time speaking and C.C. Largent Associates was born.

Healing your "people problems" sympath-etically

Christy believes she can’t teach what she hasn’t experienced, and finding success in interpersonal relationships is a big part of her story.

The fulcrum of her quest for more understanding regarding the importance of strong interpersonal skills came in 1993, when her marriage of 8 years disintegrated. She was clueless as to the reasons why – thus her quest for understanding began.

As she has taken classes, and dealt with people over the intervening years, her natural abilities in communication have been sharpened and honed so that she is now able to really give people the “inside skinny” on how to make their relationships work – whether at work or at home.

Experience may be the best teacher, but a gifted teacher such as Christy is able to shine the light of understanding for others, so they may experience success without as much pain. She has found her life calling in helping overcome the very “people problems” she once experienced herself.

Christy is a member of the National Association of Speakers and is actively pursuing her Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation.

She’s involved with the NSA-Northern California branch as well.

She is the immediate Past President of the Redding Daybreakers Toastmasters Club.

Christy is now happily married to Tom Engstrom. They live in Redding, CA and are expecting to go get their first daughter from China in January 2005. (Check out the fun stuff page for more on this adventure.)

Christy’s interests are travel, reading, running, skiing and of course her family.
